One of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving is taking a nap on a full belly! It turns out that getting more sleep is good for your too! Here’s to your health!
Quartz has updated an article that was published earlier this year about the negative health consequences of not getting enough good sleep. It turns out that 40% of Americans get less that the recommended seven hours of sleep. I am raising my hand.
The problems of not getting enough sleep go beyond just feeling tired. Folks who get less than seven hours of sleep are more likely to report chronic health conditions including heart disease, diabetes, obesity, asthma, and depression. Sleep deprivation is bad for children too. It can impair brain development.
The report suggests that if you’re trying to lose weight, that getting more sleep can help you. Sleep deprivation can mess up your metabolism and increase your appetite. Plus, IF YOU’RE ASLEEP, YOU CAN’T EAT.
So, go ahead and take a nap today. It’s good for you!
